We are entering the gigabit and smart society by the “Digital Compass” and “VHCN” initiatives of the EC to foster the digital (like Industry 4.0) as well as green (like the Green Deal) transformation. Definitely fibre is the best and maybe the only way to accomplish this transformation. This is the reason why our goal is to bring fibre to everything and everywhere and also make fibre and optical technology the enabler of the dual transition.
ETSI defined F5G (the fifth generation of fixed network) in year 2020 mainly related with gigabit capability, and in year 2022 ETSI launched the ”F5G Advanced and Beyond” white paper calling for the evolution of F5G to the new level of F5G Advanced, targeting to 10Gbps everywhere. ow it’s the right time to talk about how F5G evolves to F5G Advanced from main stakeholders (academia, CSP, regulator, consulting, vendor, benchmark, certificate, …) in this industry in order to be ready for the industry and business development towards new services in near future opening new roads towards success. To this purpose ETSI (ISG F5G) and the BBF, welcome a fruitful debate, to address the hot topics how to be ready for 10Gbps everywhere.
